Va led the team onto the field and there were murmers from the uni cheerleaders squad that they were supporting the wrong team. Mobby led the students out and they looked ready for business. Beaches looked a bit nervous early on and seemed to lack a bit of confidence and cohesion and this enabled Uni to get to a 15 to 0 lead.Things were looking a little grim until Nudge plucked a loose Uni pass and he was able to just outpace the Uni front row to the line, Bones converts (15-7). That was the lift Beaches needed and the next try was a simply constructed and executed gem from the set piece with the spritely Andy almost under the postsbut hands off for brother Mick to score another (John Delore re-enacted the movement on the uni balcony and gleefully explained the plan about what happened to everyone), Bones again converts and Beaches back in the game at 15-14 at half time. Not sure what Johan said at the break but it was like someone flicked on a power switch, Beaches came out full of vigour and confidence. Next thing you know Va charges over under the posts (after an 80 metre run and beating 15 uni defenders, well close to that anyway). Next up Mossy is in for a try and quickly followed by Nudge again for a great team try after a deft little flick pass from Nathan that the leaguies would be talking about for weeks. All of a sudden, Beaches 38-15. Uni had been blown away, even though they must have scored again but the supporters on the balcony were too busy celebrating by then. A great win to the boys and coaching staff, still plenty to work on but a job well done and good to see so many happy, smiling faces again in the dressing room and on supporters faces.
